Week 16

So apparently this post never got onto the blog...

Anyways, the week after break has been pretty good. In some cases it's nice to be back. After all, I prefer to see my friends over any gift that I may receive for Christmas. You may have guessed it, that my primary topic will be my shiny new mobile device.

If so, here we go.

First of all, I love this thing. Although currently it's not configured to be used as a phone (it does have the hardware for that), it still serves a great purpose. I mean, this is kind of like a whole new species of technology to me. For the past three years I have been using IMO is the worst excuse of any music player. Without getting too verbose, it could only do three things: Music, pictures, and video. That's it; no apps. On the other hand, the new Samsung is an incredible evolution. Everything is superior: Battery life, screen size, touch-pad resolution, screen resolution, camera(s), internal memory, speed, etc etc.

Concerning usage in the class, it really feels like I'm in the future. I now know the experience of this hi-tech experiment. It's so cool to use the apps, and to go online for quick research, take (good quality) pictures. While some apps may be useful, two of the recommended apps I still have not gotten into sync with: Twitter and Evernote. Evernote, first of all, isn't even in my attention loop. I've never heard of it, and I don't think it's practical. Yeah, maybe it's nice to have digital notes, but even on a 5" display I'm way faster taking notes the archaic way. Twitter, IMO, isn't something 'everyone should have.' I know it's trending, but it's just like any other social fad. It will eventually die out.

In a quick summary, the device is very nice. It's a huge improvement to my media, organization, and learning.

Oh and by the way, I am (very) glad I didn't go with Apple :P
